CENTRO DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA DO CAMÕES, I.P. EM SANTIAGO DO CHILEThe invitation to create this website, as it had already happened with the CLP in Zagreb, Croatia, came up after the person responsible saw the result and aesthetics of what I did in 2013 for the Budapest CLP in Hungary. The basic idea was to create something similar, but with its personal identity.
Initially, one of the criteria that I set for myself and this job was that the website would use modern technology (which did not exist in 2013) to make it responsive, so that it would adapt to different resolutions, especially mobile phones and tablets. As the colors of the Chilean flag did not fit the aesthetics (it would be difficult to visualize the content) I chose to use those that are present in the Camões Institute logo, entity responsible for these Centers. This option came to be right, in conjunction with the illustrations by José M. Pinto that can be seen on the pages of the main sections. The final result is minimalist, detailed and dynamic. Some of the first challenges to overcome were to make the website bilingual (Portuguese and Spanish), as well as to allow (without being too complicated) the subsequent editing and updating of the site to those who would be in charge of doing so. Although these three websites are housed in the Weebly platform, the technology behind them is different, in particular that of Santiago de Chile, which uses some very specific codes for the bilingual side or even in the menu, for example, that is elastic and very stylized. The details abound. From the icons on the menu, to the overall organization of all elements, as well as the immense codes that are behind everything. Hours and hours of customization in css, html and jquery, among others, dozens and dozens of pages. |
LUSIMAGLusimag is a company specialized in importing Portuguese goods to Hungary, specially food products. Their website was lacking in the design department and was missing other modern touches so they hired me to do a completely new design and website.
I came with a solution that uses the bootstrap framework and lots of custom css, html and jquery. The site is totally responsive (adapts to different resolutions, tablets, smartphones and so on), and has the option to pick three different languages (English, Portuguese and Hungarian). The shop section required also special attention and has a custom independent menu. Speaking of menus, the main one has a design that features a pseudo 3D aesthetic done in CSS and the site colors are related to the Portuguese and Hungarian flags but also to the promotional materials that I've done to their company in the past. There are lots of small details but for now the screenshots will have to do because we are waiting for their programmer to make it work on their hosting. |
TAX-BANDTax-band is a company specialized in accounting services. Their old website was not functioning properly and needed a modern approach and overhaul. My job here was to do the new design and part of the programming. That involved doing the CSS, part of the html and bootstrap customizing. The final result is a onepage responsive clean bilingual (Hungarian/English) website that features a parallax scrolling regarding backgrounds and a spy scrolling menu among other technologies and jquery details.

EJICOMPThe website for EJICOMP (International Meeting of Young Researchers in Comparative Literature) relies in the simplicity of the design as requested by the entity. The usual CSS, HTML custom codes and programming was part of the job. Also, the site is responsive and adapts itself to different resolutions as customary these days.

NUNO 'AZELPDS' ALMEIDA PORTFOLIO V.2.0A total overhaul. That's what happened when I decided to change my portfolio website. A total redesign that even includes the small icon that represents it on the browser. You can compare what you see now to the pictures a little below of the first version to begin understanding what I mean.
The main idea was a necessity for the site to reflect how I am today and to follow other changes that I did to prepare for the future. It’s no coincidence that my new business cards are similar in many ways and mirror the chromatic change on the website and further customization of all the elements, pages and content to reflect that. The end result is better for the eyes, clean and an invitation to be absorbed. We can lose days exploring all the content. The full screen slider that opens the website was an easy decision, since much of my work is very visual. For photography it's also a great solution. But one of the biggest changes was the total redesigned menu. I wanted a very minimal, vertical approach, similar in some ways to what you see on mobile navigation. At the same time I wanted a middle ground. The menu stays always on top to make the navigation accessible all the time and when you get inside you can see that the menu was all customized to reflect again the new aesthetic of the website. With that some sections of the website were abolished and others merged. The photography section is the only one now to feature different subsections because of the sheer number of content that would be impossible to feature in a single page. The site features lots of css, jquery and html custom codes. The titles, the css transitions and borders, the scrolling effects when you touch or click certain elements. Within minutes you can sense that you can navigate very fast on the website if needed. The little details are everywhere. Videos that open on lightbox window, the hungarian cross on the pages related to the country, the maps highlighting where some photographs were taken, the music players that show now the tracklists, the personal sliders in each page… An effort to reiterate that invitation to explore. And since we live in an era where you can’t ignore tablets and smartphones, there’s lots of custom codes underneath that try to adapt the website to different resolutions and mechanics. With a website that had already more than 90 pages, the task was daunting and it was impossible to achieve perfect results so I opted for a middle ground again. The best option it’s always a desktop computer. Optimal resolution is full hd (1980x1080), but the main structure can adapt itself to lower resolutions or equipments. The iPad is a perfect example. In this case the landscape mode gives a good fidelity but portrait mode isn’t bad either. On smartphones I don’t recommend, but nevertheless there’s some codes that help the overall experience there like changing some elements or deleting others when viewed on a smartphone that are heavier or obstruct the viewport. This was an insane amount of hours and days of coding and testing and I could write and write about many details so it’s time to let you get back to exploring the website. |
PROJECTO CELLOPHANe v.3.0In 2015 I decided to do another big redesign to my main site and blog. Similar to what i did here at my portfolio, it was made to reflect better how I am today but also to make it modern and fully responsive (adapts to different resolutions, tablets, smartphones and so on). Lots of custom CSS, HTML and Jquery.
Again, the small details are tremendous (custom icons, chromatic coherence, little animations, etc). You can lose yourself exploring all the content and the new design was also made to help exploring it. |
CENTRO DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA DO CAMÕES, I.P. EM BUDAPESTEModern design, bilingual. The new website that I made for Camões Institute. A major work by myself, I did not only the website but also introduced all the content, updates and everything that you can imagine and more. What is normally made by a team work of several people was made by only one person basically. The site features a lot of custom code and the main page centers the attention with a jquery slider with custom text and thumbnails but also a news column and highlights from activities sponsored by the Center for Portuguese Language and Culture of Camões Institute in Budapest, Hungary.
Another small highlight is the background image animation featured in every page of the website where a different picture fades in smoothly. Or the videos that open in a new window inside the site for example. There's lots of small details like those that you can find exploring the website. |
CENTRO DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA DO CAMÕES, I.P. EM ZAGREB
The second website that I made for Camões Institute. The client wanted it to follow the aesthetics and some of the ideas of the Budapeste website that I did before. It was another major work by myself. The site features a lot of custom code and the main page centers the attention with some jquery sliders with custom code to showcase activities from the Center, books from the library and news related to Portugal.

PATRÍCIA INFANTE DA CÂMARA - PHOTOGRAPHY & POETRY PORTFOLIOPortfolio website made for Patrícia Infante da Câmara. The idea was to have a website with no menus and a navigation centered on visual elements to access all the areas. Besides the landing page with frames and the gallery that features her marvelous photos, another main attraction is the jquery book that features her poetry. This was the element that was more difficult to achieve but I'm very proud of the final result.
